The Erika and Conrad Schnyder-Foundation is a politically and confessionally independent foundation based in Zumikon. It was founded in 1983 by Erika and Conrad Schnyder. The broadly conceived purpose of the Foundation reflects the broad concerns of its generous founders. To ensure a measurable impact, the Foundation Board sets priorities and reviews them periodically.
Foundation Purpose
»My parents, Erika and Conrad Schnyder, lived in Switzerland and often discussed among themselves which aspects of giving were most important to them. The central question was always how to help those who cannot help themselves. My parents’ conviction was that every child should have the moral right to food, healthcare, education and opportunities for a happy life. Then, all people would be more prosperous and there would be less war. The world would be a better place for everyone. Another concern, especially for my father, was the preservation and restoration of cultural heritage. His aim was to give young people roots, to give them a sense of belonging and pride and thus create new, shared perspectives. This issue is particularly acute at a time of the greatest population movement in our history and the resulting loss and conflict of cultures. I am committed to ensuring that the Erika and Conrad Schnyder-Stiftung continues to work persistently towards achieving its goals».
